Chicago Fittings X-Riser Seal and Ferrule Assembly It's our feeling at Chicago Fittings, that Natural Gas and Propane Gas systems should have as few joints as possible, and more importantly, those joints should be located above ground wherever possible. The X-Riser with an integral service head adapter accomplishes both criteria. The use of an X-Riser removes a minimum of (2) below grade joints per riser when compared to that of a standard pigtail style anode-less riser. In addition, those joints, buried below ground are now moved to a single above grade joint eliminating the risks and liabilities associated with below grade joints. With the use of the X-Riser system, gas is distributed from main to meter, meter to appliance, or propane tank to house with a solid (jointless) underground pipe. Combining this philosophy with the long list of features and benefits of the elastic sealing technology makes the X-Riser the most reliable, safest and most cost-effective method for gas piping systems. The typical after-the-meter installation comparing the use of the X-Riser to a traditional prevent pigtail style riser with stab couplings yields a removal of a total of (10) joints and most importantly, eliminates the (4) joints buried below grade. With the X-Riser swivel capabilities we also remove the need for a union and nipple to make the connection above grade.
- No underground joints 1 solid service line from point-to-point with above ground terminations
- No chamfering required eliminates the need for chamfer tools and fusion equipment, a simple clean cut is all that is required
- 1-piece bi-directional seal and built in stiffener - seal assembly can't be installed improperly, eliminates worries of order and orientation of multiple internal components
- No torque requirement all Chicago fittings products incorporate the bottoming or positive stop design, simply tighten the compression nut until it is metal-to-metal and you are done
- IAPMO/UPC/IPC Listed
- Must be installed by trained personnel in accordance with NFPA 58 and 54 state and local codes

- Lyall Transition Fittings are one-piece, factory-assembled transitions that provide safe, economical, and easy to install connections between gas carrying steel pipe and polyethylene (PE) pipe. Lyall is the only manufacturer that offers 2 distinct transition sealing methods allowing a larger choice of product configurations to meet your requirements.
- Meets or exceeds industry specifications
- Fusion bonded epoxy coating offers excellent mechanical and electrochemical properties
- All welded joints are 100% pressure tested
- The LYCO Anodeless Meter Riser provides a positive transition joint between polyethylene pipe and the gas carrying steel pipe of the meter assembly set, and requires no cathodic protection below ground. Proven reliability with over 15 million LYCO Meter Risers installed since 1973. LYCO Anodeless Meter Risers provide market leading savings with a high level of quality and volume production. The simple design concepts used in the gas-tight PE to Steel transition provides lower component costs with virtually no field repair or replacement time required by the field crews. The design and production methods used in compressing the gas-tight transition fitting provides a PE to steel joint that is many times stronger than the PE pipe itself. In addition, each LYCO Meter Riser is 100% pressure tested prior to shipment.
- LYCO Anodeless Meter Risers meet all DOT 192.281, 192.283, 192.375 and ASTM D-2513 CAT-1 specifications.
- R.W. Lyall & Company pioneered the industry's first anodeless meter riser utilizing a ground level transition between polyethylene pipe and the steel pipe of the riser outlet, eliminating the need for cathodic protection for gas-carrying steel pipe installed below ground.
- The LYCO transition fitting provides a leak-proof seal between the smooth ID surface of the polyethylene pipe and grooved steel spigot.
- An electrostatically applied epoxy coating on the riser casing provides long-term underground corrosion protection of the metal casing. A water t
